Playdates

Now that H is in Kindergarten her circle of friends is growing. The girls in her class are all best friends and such a close knit group. Us kindergarten moms LOVE this fact and hope it can continue on throughout their school years. So with that H's social calendar is filling up... from birthday parties to playdates after school. It wasn't too long ago when playdates meant time for mommies to get together, have a "break" and enjoy talking to another adult.
Playdates past... my baby girl & her buddy
Now it's "Mommy can so and so come over? Can I go over so and so's house? OK! Bye Mommy!"

I can't get over the fact that now it's truly is a playdate for H. It's actually a few hours "away" from Mommy. My little bird is testing her wings. It truly hit me when H went over her friend's house to play, without me?! what?! sniff sniff. Time really flies, my baby girl is a big girl now... in a blink of an eye. Granted there are still times when I'm good friends with the mom and we hang out as the kids play. So everyone gets to socialize and have fun haha!

At the last birthday party a bunch of us parents were discussing how at 1st grade is usually when parents just drop off the kid at the party and leave.
Do you remember how old when that happened for you?
What do you love most about playdates?

  1. Hi Eva! I saw your comment on my guest post at Always Maylee and so I wanted to check out your blog and say hello! (thanks for your sweet comment btw)
I love finding fellow mommy bloggers!
My little one is still 2, so we are still in the stage of playdates/mommy dates together. I know it's a matter of time before I blink and she'll be going on her own. Time truly does fly!!

  2. I can't believe in maybe 2 years, J might be going to friends' houses without me! Oh my gosh! So you walk her/drive her over there and then come back in the few hours? That's a nice break but like you said, it's also her growing up, which makes us mommies kinda sad and sentimental. For me, I really want J to be independent and not rely on me to be his play-buddy but on the flip side, once that actually happens, I know I'm gonna be a bit bummed. So, I better cherish it for now. We have a playdate with 2 families this Sunday!

    1. We've been driving over since there's so much snow and way too cold! Once it's warmer we can walk over. Alot of her friends actually live in the neighborhood, we just didn't realize it since they lived on the other side of community. Well not much of a break since N is still with me haha, he actually asks me "Why can't I go?"
Have lots of fun on your playdate!

  4. I don't remember when it started to happen exactly, but I remember being in the 3rd/4th grade and hanging out with my best friend all. the. time. I was living in Taiwan then and every day after school, we would get snacks together, hang out at each other's place. Everything was within walking distance, not like here where we have to drive everywhere. Sigh, I miss my childhood days. :)
