Rainbow Loom

How many of you know what I'm talking about? or even own one?
Well if you don't, you are about to find out. This is the latest craze among kids. You can use this loom to make the latest "must have" accessory,  rubber band bracelets.
You can make some of the designs without the loom but a must for the more complicated designs. We purchased ours at our local craft store, Michaels. You can find all sorts of tutorials on you tube or just go to their website. H was able to do the basic single pattern rubber band bracelet with minimal assistance.
Basic single pattern

I even had some fun as well.
Nautique pattern
Fishtail pattern
Triple Single pattern
Starburst pattern
This totally brings me back to my youth making those friendship bracelets. Remember those?

What were your favorite "fads" growing up?
Rubber bracelets in the 80s? Charm necklaces? Friendship bracelets? Silly bands?

  1. This is pretty awesome, I love how they all came out. I remember when I was younger, there was a bracelet making craze too. But instead of rubber bands, it was with this thick plastic threads and you sort of just braid them in different ways. Oh to be young again! :)

    1. Thanks Yi-chia, I wish there were more shades and colors for the rubber bands. I could go crazy and make some fun ombre ones hehe. I think I did that too with the plastic threads :) haha yes to be young again, but now we can just enjoy shoes and clothing trends right? ; )

  2. Oh, I had no idea this thing existed. Anna loves to wear stuff she makes so this would be a hit with her for sure. I remember braiding bracelets when I was little. Haha, brings back memories!

  3. Looks complicated ;). I totally remember friendship bracelets as a kid. I wasn't that good at making them tho ;). And Chinese knots in Chinese school. They were cool. Kids' trends change so frequently these days! Weren't they just into these plastic bracelets in weird shapes like animals??

  4. I've never heard of these. How fun! I loved making friendship bracelets growing up. Another fad at our school was wire bracelets. Was that just my school or was it everywhere?

  5. Those bracelets are so much fun! I remember friendship bracelets being all the rage when I was young. I spent countless hours buying the right embroidery thread to be able to make just the right bracelet.
