Hello Kitty party

You can guess from the title what H wanted for her birthday. I guess the one for her 1st birthday didn't count. Hehe it's ok, I love Hello Kitty! My husband told me that each year the birthdays are becoming more lavish. I think I'm just getting more practice each year. Plus this gives me a creative outlet from my everyday duties as a SAHM. Take a peek into H's party!
Hello Friend You Are Invited:
I actually saw this when I googled for some inspiration and loved the simplicity of the design. I didn't want the text to compete with the image so I modified it by placing it on the back.
Hello Decor:
Paper pompoms & streamers, simple yet spruces up a room with color. I used tulle to hang them. These are so easy to make and cheaper to DIY. If you can fold paper you can make these.
Hello Treats:
We had a number of people coming so I decided to make a cake for the adults while the kids could enjoy some cupcake cones. I also made some HK cake pops. I wished they turned out less lumpy and more smooth. H was happy, so that's all that mattered. A friend at the party gave me a tip to add oil to the chocolate next time. Did you ever make cake pops?
Hello Favors:
The best thing about Hello Kitty you can pretty much find it anywhere. I found cute pails at Target for the girls and solid color pails for the boys. I had fun designing personalized thank you tags and candy wrappers.
Hello Games:
We had face painting or I should say hand painting since everyone wanted it on their hands.
I made up a HK Bingo game and used 3/4" round labels to mark the spaces.
And of course you can't have a party without a pinata. I just used a cardboard box and tissue paper to make one. Amazing how fast kids can clean up that pile of goodies. If only that would work the same with cleaning up the toys.

Yes it took alot of time and planning but I had tons of fun. To have H come up to me at the end of the day and say "Thank you Mommy! (gives me a big hug and kiss) Thank you so much for the party!" Now that's the best feeling! So what's next on my agenda? I've got my lil guy's birthday party in less than 2 weeks. Can you say busy?

Guess what his theme will be?
Do you enjoy planning parties as much as I do? Or does the thought scare you?

  2. GREAT job on all the DIY -- cute cards, paper pom poms!! Love the streamers wall! I can't believe you made sooo many desserts -- cupcake cones, HK cake, and pops too?? I loved H's dress and pose in the one photo! And certainly, a THANK YOU for the party is all that a mommy needs to feel like it was ALL worth it! Great job! (you're making me look bad ;). Hehe).

As for party planning, I like it because I like stretching my creativity muscles, but it scares me because I can't always pull-off all that is in my mind. Like baking. I'm horrible at baking, so cakes never turn out as beautifully as yours. Nevertheless, whenever I propose buying a cake, the hubs always says "I'll make one." Hehe. I can't guess what N's birthday will be. Can't wait to see. 2 parties, 2 weeks, crazy!

    1. Thanks so much Lisa! You had great parties for J (from the pics I've seen) and you will have even more in the future with your double July bdays :) I know it!
I know what you mean about having all those ideas in your head. I start designing and prepping stuff well in advance so it makes it "easier" to pull it off in the end. But of course with the cakes and food that can only be done last minute. Nice of Alan to volunteer with the cake. I don't forsee Alston saying that to me ever but he does help me by taking off the day before so I can do all the baking and last minute things. haha

    2. Aw, taking off the day before so you can prep. That's so nice! Imagine having to do everything at night or the day-of! Yikes!

  6. You did such an awesome job! I think you should go into the party planning business! :) I love to plan parties, but they never turn out as creative as I imagine. Ha ha! I'm just not a creative person.

  9. Super cute decorations and food - nice job! I just want to know if those streamers stayed on your wall? Because, we were just at a kids' birthday party over the weekend and my son had no problem ripping every single streamer off the wall. (You're probably glad you didn't invite us to your party - ha!). Also, if your daughter is a big Hello Kitty fan, I just noticed that Zulily is currently having a pretty big Hello Kitty sale.

    1. Thanks Nilsa! Our streamers stayed on the wall, but I could see how tempting it would be. Haha you can say your son "helped" by saving them time with taking down those streamers, right? haha
Thanks for the heads up I'll check it out. She does love Hello Kitty, as do I : )
