Trick or treat!

24 days til Halloween so that means I need to have the costumes ready to go. Can you guess what H wants to be this year? Hint: her favorite movie mentioned in a previous post. She wants to be Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz of course! H said to me, “Mommy I want braids like Dorothy and the pretty blue ribbons too.” I love how she’s so girly. For N I thought it would be cute if he were one of Dorothy’s friends. Fortunately he agreed and chose the Tin Man. He’s pretty excited about it when he saw the costume. Now he tells everybody, "I'm going to be the Tin Man! What will you be?"

DOROTHY’S COSTUME
Materials needed: Blue gingham fabric, white buttons, a white shirt, white leggings or socks, blue ribbon, basket and red ruby slippers. I had to find those online, I guess red shoes aren’t in this season. I made the dress more like an apron, since it would be easier for me to figure out without a pattern. I also made Toto with some dark gray fleece and sewed on black felt eyes and nose.

TIN MAN’S COSTUME
Materials needed: grey and red felt, funnel, gray shirt (not shown) and pants. I used grey felt to make an ax and body. Added a red felt heart and top it off with a grey funnel for his hat.
Now we’re off to see the wizard!
What will you and your kid(s) be for Halloween?
