Halloween Quad E Style

This year I am a little behind when it comes to costumes for the E children.

E1 LOVES elephants! So naturally he wants to be an elephant for Halloween. So far I know I want to use a grey hoodie and sweat pants as the base of the costume. I will be using grey felt to attach ears to the hood and add a tail to the back of the hoodie. My only problem/challenge with this costume is the trunk. I think what I'll do is get a cup/container/tube of sorts as the base of the trunk and then use felt to make the trunk and attach with ribbon/elastic to E1's ears. Not sure how comfortable that is going to be. There are plenty of ready made costumes out there that have the trunk around the chin area or attached on top. I think below the chin is just weird. Maybe I could do something above the hood but I'm not sold on that yet.

Does anyone out there have a crafty suggestion for me?

E2 and E3 originally were just following their brother's lead and wanted to be elephants as well but then changed their minds and wanted to be a different animal everyday. So I figured I need to make the decision for them. Eva had showed me this cute toadstool costume in a magazine because she knows I have a thing for toadstools, so I decided I would make them toadstool costumes this year. I'm not going ultra crazy this year so for E2 and E3 they will be wearing cream or white top and pants as the stem and I will make them toadstool hats.

As for E4 we have a pea in the pod costume that we had bought E1 when he was a baby and will probably just throw him in that, hopefully it will fit him! But if I have time, since E2 and E3 will be toadstools, I was thinking that I might try to dress him up like a garden gnome if I get a chance to whip up a quick costme for him. We will see what time permits.

I would love to hear some creative solutions for the elephant trunk challenge I have for E1's costume, please comment with your ideas!

  1. I wish I was crafty and could help. I'm so far from it. Maybe Pinterest has some ideas?

  2. I don't have any real ideas, but I prefer the trunk on top of the head instead of under the chin. Like in this picture! http://babyelephantz.com/wp-content/gallery/child-elephant-costume/1_child-elephant-costume.jpg

Also, for picture-taking, if E1 tilts her head down and you shoot from above, she will look like a real elephant :)

    1. And sorry - I mistakenly referred to E1 as a girl, even though I know he is a boy!

    2. No problem! Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards having the trunk attached to the hood...will have to start working on this, Halloween will be coming before I know it!

  3. Great ideas for the elephant costume. The matching hoodie-pants seems like an easy solution for a base of a costume! Tks to you & Eva for planting that in me! And yes, the trunk under the chin is weird. Can't wait to see what you decide!

Cute toadstool ideas for E2 and E3. Had no idea you have a thing for toadstools ;).

How cute would a gnome costume be for E1!

Sorry, no further advice on the trunk. You have great ideas already!

Aw, the joys and challenges of motherhood. Are you and hubby gonna dress up?

    1. Hubby and I don't usually dress up but I have always wanted to come up with a family co-ordinated theme. The year I come up with a good theme, we will all dress up.
