Strawberry Picking

During early June when "Pick Your Own" fruits season was just starting, our two families went to Highland Orchards in West Chester to pick strawberries. This was the first time for pretty much everyone, adults and children, so it was quite an exciting experience.

The bushes were nice and low for the children to get to which made picking super easy. And the strawberries were a beautiful red peeking out from under the green leaves, which were a visual treat!

The E children are big fruit lovers and strawberries are one of their favorites, so we picked a whole tray full.  Originally I was planning on trying my hand at making jam with some of the strawberries but the children ate their fill everyday and finished a whole tray in about a week's time. So canning my own jam will just have to wait.

Check out the Sassy Strawberry hair clip in the "honeycomb" which looks almost as juicy as the ones we picked back in June!

Have you picked any fruit this summer, what are your favorites?

  1. Great 2nd photo of the strawberry. What a gem and what great blurry background! We used to pick fruit as the Chen family but not with Alan and Jacob. I don't think Alan likes heat and bugs ;). We used to pick white peaches, melt in your mouth goodness! And cherries too. Glad your kids ate up those fresh strawberries. YUM!

    1. That photo was a total lucky shot! Glad you like it, you are a much better photographer than I (Zi). Yum, peaches! We went to pick some yellow peaches a few weeks back, so good!
