Are you ready for Halloween?

H&N costumes are ready to go! They actually had their minds set back in September and I'm happy to say they stuck with it. Phew, otherwise they would have one disappointed mommy haha!
At first H wanted to be a peacock. How was my fashionista aware of this trend? Haha
(I noticed this was actually one of "the costume themes" this year, at least for little girls.) But she actually decided to be a bunny in the end. This is the easiest costume I made by far. I'll do some face painting, throw on a pair of bunny ears, a white sweatshirt and leggings. I made a tail with a giant chenille pipe cleaner and sewed it onto her leggings.
As for N, he first wanted to be Darth Vader.
... then Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc.
... then he wanted to be Yoda!!! Final answer!
This was a little more complicated to create so I did some research on Pinterest to get some ideas. I bought green fleece to create a yoda hat/head. Cream and brown fleece for the robe. And my brother's green light saber that he played with as a kid. This should keep N nice and warm since it's usually pretty chilly out.
Now that the kids are older and realize they get free candy they can't wait to go trick or treating this year!

What was your favorite candy that you got when you went trick or treating?
Do you buy candy you like or "not like" to pass out to the trick-or-treaters?

  1. Nice that you have a break in making Hs costume this year! You've done fine work in the past, I must say. The Yoda costume is great! I like the stitching in the cap for his wrinkles :). I buy candy that I like bc we always have extra & I want to be able to eat it. This is a good AND bad thing!

    1. Hehe yes H's costume to all of 5 minutes to make. I think I spent more time shopping for the materials ;P Thanks Lisa! I"m glad N is super excited about his Yoda costume. He wore it a few times to play already haha.
I agree buying candy you like is a good thing... and bad, but at least it won't go to waste.Hehe :D

  2. Your costumes turned out great! I loved and still do, whoopers. I like pretty much anything with chocolate. :) I always buy candy that I love. Last year, we didn't get any trick or treaters because the houses on both sides of us were still being built. So I'm not kids realized anyone lived in our house. Hopefully we'll get some this year, or I'll just have to eat all the candy again. :)

    1. Thanks Mandi!!! Mmmm whoppers are good. I never got many of them while trick or treating :(
Hope you get more trick or treaters this year. Maybe just turn on ALL the lights in the house haha. Some kids still ring our door bell when the porch light is off and usually that's my way of saying we're out of candy. It must because they see our lights on inside :P

  4. Cute costumes! Can't wait to see pictures of your kids rocking them. Our sleepy neighborhood gets maybe 1 or 2 TOTers so we are going to a friend's nighborhood this Halloween night, which means we didn't buy any candies this year. But in the years past, we buy candies we like because we always ended up eating them. Mmm....anything with peanuts is my favorite.

    1. Thanks sugarlens! I'll be sure to take pictures :) What will your two cuties be? I want to see too, hehe. Trick or treating with friends is fun! I'm sure A&W will LOVE it and get plenty of candy to share with Mommy & Daddy. :D
